Virtual Internship at Robotist / Nuwona
Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance
University of Lusaka
September 1 - November 30, 2025
At Work
My virtual internship with Robotist Group and Nuwona was a meaningful period of growth in digital marketing, analysis and professional development. Although officially a virtual internship, my colleagues and I reported physically to an office at the University of Lusaka, which helped us maintain structure, collaboration, and accountability.
Before beginning the internship, I completed three preparation courses which included Career Starter Week, ICT Training and Office Etiquette. These courses strengthened my communication skills, improved my confidence and equipped me with practical knowledge in Excel, data processing, professional conduct and emotional intelligence.
During the internship, my tasks included compiling research findings, supporting the development of content for digital platforms, studying customer patterns and preparing structured reports that reflected clarity and accuracy. Through these assignments, I improved my creativity, precision, writing quality and analytical thinking. Weekly feedback sessions guided me and helped me understand the standard required for high quality work.
My Mentor, Coach and Colleagues
My primary mentor was Mariam Shiaman-Barro, who supported me with clear guidance and thoughtful feedback. She gave me space to grow while also helping me understand how to approach each task effectively.
I also had weekly check ins with Karen Mueller from B360. Our discussions covered my personal interests, professional development topics and general reflections on my progress. Karen regularly checked on how my tasks were going and created a safe and supportive space where I could talk openly about challenges and victories.
My colleagues played a very important role in making this experience special. We created a warm and supportive atmosphere at the University of Lusaka office. Our mornings usually started with coffee together, which became a simple but meaningful routine. Outside of work, we often went to the gym as a group which helped us unwind and stay active. We also formed a Book Club where we met weekly to discuss Atomic Habits by James Clear. These meetings encouraged personal growth and strengthened our friendships. In addition, we had a tradition of Wednesday team building lunch which became something we all looked forward to. These shared experiences helped us bond, encouraged collaboration and made the internship feel like a community rather than just a work environment.
Highlights During the Swiss Internship
One of the major highlights was discovering that I could excel in a creative environment especially in digital marketing and communication. I grew more confident in my ability to produce quality visuals, well structured reports, to analyse information and to pay attention to detail. Another highlight was the strong sense of connection I developed with my colleagues, my mentor and the B360 team. The routines we shared, the feedback I received and the genuine encouragement from everyone made the experience special.
The internship was also filled with personal growth and moments where I learned to trust my abilities. I felt proud when I realized that I could adapt quickly to new tasks, communicate more effectively and present my work with confidence. The supportive environment motivated me to challenge myself and approach my work with discipline and commitment.
Challenges During the Swiss Internship
The challenges I faced included occasional internet problems which sometimes slowed down my work, adjusting to new tasks that felt unfamiliar and moments of self doubt that came with wanting to meet high expectations. There were also times when the structure of a virtual internship made me feel a little disconnected. These challenges taught me resilience, patience and the value of asking for help when needed.
My Future Plans
This experience strengthened my interest in fields that bring together economics, digital communication and data driven decision making. I plan to continue building my skills in digital marketing and research while also exploring opportunities that allow me to grow creatively and analytically. I hope to pursue further studies in areas that blend economics with digital innovation, strategy and communication. I want to carry forward the professionalism, confidence and discipline that this internship helped me develop.
Personal Message
I am deeply grateful to B360 Education Partnerships, Robotist Group and Nuwona, and everyone who contributed to this experience. The internship allowed me to grow professionally and personally. I feel more prepared for real work environments and more confident in my abilities. Thank you for creating an opportunity that encourages young professionals to learn, explore and discover their strengths. I will carry the lessons from this journey into my future with appreciation and purpose.
