Update May 2025
The record semester has come to an end
We are delighted to give you a review of the first semester 2025.
Northbound
Our record-breaking eleven interns, who were in Switzerland and Liechtenstein from February to April, have landed safely back home in Namibia and Zambia. During their three-month internships, they gained exciting insights into the world of work, learned a lot and are taking home many valuable experiences.
At the Final Presentation on April 15, they gave a comprehensive and entertaining insight into their stay in Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the company representatives, host families and friends of B360.
A big thank you to our partner companies Bank Julius Baer, Büchi Labortechnik, Hivoduct, LGT Bank and Mediaschneider, as well as to all host families and donors - thanks to your help we can offer these young students this unique and life-changing opportunity.
You can find the internship reports here.
Southbound
In February, March and April, a total of eight experts volunteered in Namibia. Six of them taught at our partner university Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where they worked in the Department of Health Sciences in particular. In addition to exciting lessons and practical work in the laboratory, there were also two Career Starter Weeks, during which the young talents were prepared for their entry into professional life.
Our collaboration with Bank Windhoek was also continued - two experts ran two successful Career Starter Weeks together with the bank.
You can find the individual expert reports here.
We would like to thank all the experts for their voluntary work as well as NUST and Bank Windhoek for their successful cooperation.
South-South
The annual networking event took place in Namibia on March 6th. Around 90 B360 alumni, representatives of the partner universities and partner companies as well as B360 experts met in Windhoek to exchange ideas.
Impressions of the event can be found here.
Outlook
The second semester of 2025 will start soon and we are looking forward to it.
We are particularly pleased that our five virtual interns 2024 will be in Switzerland from June 18th to July 2nd. As they did an outstanding job during their virtual internships, they all won the Special Award. During their stay in Switzerland, the five graduates will have the chance to get to know Switzerland and their internship companies. They will also take part in the B360 annual event. The virtual internships, including the Special Award, are funded by the Staub Kaiser Foundation - thank you very much!
Finally, five female students from Namibia will land in Switzerland in September. They will complete their three-month Northbound internship with the companies Cosanum, Motorex, SQTS, ZHAW and Zweifel Chips & Snacks. The virtual internships will also start in September - we will be busy selecting the students and do the internship planning over the next few months.
We are also looking forward to sending several experts to Southern Africa in the second semester of 2025. The focus in the fall semester will be on the Career Starter Weeks - we will offer these popular weeks in Namibia as well as in Zambia and South Africa.
We look forward to sharing news and updates from B360 with you again soon.
Best regards,
Sabina Balmer and the B360 team
