At Work

During my internship through the B360 education partnerships program, I had the privilege to work at Hivoduct AG. Hivoduct AG is a Swiss high-tech startup specializing in sustainable electrical energy transmission technologies. The company focuses on developing and producing "pressurized air cables" as an innovative alternative to traditional overhead lines and cables. I had the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment that encouraged growth and learning. I was placed in a role aligned with my academic background and interests, which allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world context. This experience enhanced my technical and soft skills, especially in problem solving and time management.

My Swiss Host Families

Living with two Swiss host families was one of the most enriching aspects of my stay. I was fortunate enough to be hosted by the Sievers family and the Eriksson & Muller Pfister family. They all welcomed me with warmth and made me feel like a part of their family. Through daily conversations, shared meals, and cultural outings, I gained a deeper appreciation of the local culture and lifestyle. My host families helped me navigate the new environment and often went the extra mile to ensure I was comfortable and happy.

Highlights and challenges in Switzerland

The highlights of my experience include exploring the picturesque landscapes, visiting historical towns, and experiencing the efficiency of the public transport system. I was also impressed by the strong emphasis on sustainability and the precision that is evident in both daily life and the workplace. One of the main challenges for me was managing early mornings and late nights - balancing a full-time workload while keeping up with university responsibilities proved to be more demanding than expected. Additionally, I lived quite a distance from my workplace, so the daily commute was time-consuming and added to the overall fatigue. However, these challenges taught me a great deal about discipline, time management and perseverance.

My Future Plans

This internship has significantly influenced my outlook on career development. I am more determined than ever to pursue a career that allows me to contribute meaningfully to my community, using the skills and insights gained from this experience. I plan to gain work experience and with time eventually I plan to further my studies.

Personal Message

I am incredibly grateful to B360 education partnerships, Hivoduct AG, Namibia University of Science and Technology, my host families and my family in Namibia for making this journey possible. This experience has not only broadened my horizons, but also deepened my sense of purpose. To future interns: embrace every moment, be open to learning, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone - this experience will shape you in the best possible way. Danke/Merci!
