First I would like to thank B360 and Mr Ernst Wertmüller, the chief executive officer of Ferrum, for the opportunity to do an internship at Ferrum. I also would like to thank the Abdulkadir family for hosting me and all people that helped me during my stay in Switzerland. It was a unique experience to be in Switzerland. Furthermore, I want to thank my supervisor and the whole Ferrum team at large for their openness and enjoyable working environment.

Ferrum AG is a business company with the head office situated in Schafisheim. The company has different business units united under one roof. Ferrum AG has five business units, namely canning, centrifuge, foundry, manufacturing and washing technology. According to Ferrum vision and mission, each division has to control its profit and loss statement vs planning data, in order to generate the required profit and avoid loss.

I have been doing my internship in canning technology and my main responsibility was to assemble the can seaming machines, carry out quality acceptance test and contribute to the company documentation. During my stay at Ferrum, I have been applying and enhanced my theoretical knowledge regarding measuring, polishing, turning, drilling, machine elements, tolerances and fits, reading of technical readings, technical drawing reading and project management.

The internship at Ferrum was very interesting and productive and I have learned a lot about Mechanical Engineering duties. The tasks that I was assigned to were very fascinating and I was given the opportunity to reason and solve technical problems. In general I felt really comfortable at my work place. My colleagues sdre friendly, helpful and open-minded. Working on different projects was interesting, and helped a lot to retrieve the theory I have learned from school.

My personal development increased a lot in this period. I learned how to handle stressfully situations in daily business life as well as taking responsibility and solving problems in different ways. Collaboration and communication are key points in a project; in this case the team spirit was amazing so that the working level was quite high and effective.

I lived with the Abdulkadir Family in the village called Hunzenschwil. We stayed 3 in the house, I felt really comfortable at this place and I enjoyed living in this small family. It has been good to stay with the Abdulkadir family as they have been helping me in all means. In general, my first impression of Hunzenschwil village and surrounding villages was that is is very quiet. During my free time, I nearly explored the whole of Switzerland and some nearby countries. Ferrum people and my guest family made me get in contact with a lot of friendly people such as students at Zurich University.

Of course, I will miss a lot of typical Swiss things such as Swiss Foundry (typical cheese and potato), the tasty Swiss food and the melodic language and Swiss nature (especially the alps, lakes and rivers)

All in all, I really enjoyed working and living in Switzerland. For sure, I will never forget this remarkable and life changing experience period and its memories. There is nothing left to say but „Vielen Dank, ich wünsche Ihnen viel Glück und weiterhin ein schönes Leben".
