At work

The first thing I learned was to organize my work by breaking down each task I was given into deliverables and updating the status of each so as to keep track of my work. My mentor was always ready to respond to my questions, even if he had to go over what he just said which provided me  a great platform to seek clarity without  fear. Apart from that, each time I was assigned a task, he explained the importance of that task to the business which gave me an appreciation of the significance of my work. The team was very welcoming and supportive which made the working environment conducive. Apart from the department I was directly linked to, I had a privilege of attending different training sessions that elaborated the work done in other departments and this has given me a broader understanding of Asset Management. I also had a chance to speak to portfolio managers in charge of topics of my interest which gave me significant insights. I worked a lot with excel and powerpoint and this has enhanced my abilities in the two skills. I am grateful for this opportunity and it will go a long way in my career development.

My Swiss host family

I had a privilege of living with two Swiss families and my experience with both of them was great. The first family I stayed with in the first and last two weeks welcomed me warmly. The entire family was happy to have us around and this has given me a beautiful lasting impression about a Swiss family.  Despite some minimal challenges in communicating with my host mum I still had a good time because her love and genuine acts could be seen even without words. My birthday found me at my first family and I had delicious chocolates and chocolate cake baked by their son. I found a friend in their cheerful daughter and we had beautiful conversations.  The second family I stayed with was equally very good to me. I got integrated into the family without any difficulty. They went out of her way to ensure I was comfortable. I got a sweet baby sister with a warm heart that always brightened my days. I had a privilege of celebrating my birthday for the second time and it was awesome. We visited beautiful places together and I am grateful to both families for the love and care they showed me during my stay. I shall forever treasure the time I spent with them.

Highlights & challenges in Switzerland

I explored Switzerland thanks to the GA train ticket I had. The organized transport system made it easy for me to travel and find my way without difficulties. I also had a chance to taste different Swiss dishes and would pick Raclette as my favorite. The most challenging part was the language. Sometimes I wished I could speak to people around me in their native language  and because of the gap I noticed I have challenged myself to learn another international language as soon as I possibly can.

My future plans

I now return home to complete my Master of Art in Economics program at the University of Zambia as well as search for employment as I look forward to apply the valuable skills and experience I have acquired thus far.

 Personal message

I am grateful for the rare privilege of being a B360 intern. The exposure and valuable work experience I have acquired at Credit Suisse is a milestone in my career development. Sincere gratitude to my mentor and the entire team for the support they rendered to me during my internship. Memories of the beautiful places I visited I shall forever treasure. Thank you!
