Volunteering

 

Volunteer experts are required at institutions of higher education in Namibia and Zambia.

 

    Time frame  :   On average, assignments last three weeks plus travel days. The assignment format and workload varies from assignment to assignment and is tailor-made and discussed in detail prior to departure. Generally experts are kept very busy.

 
  Subjects:   Food safety, occupational health and safety, communication, mechanical and civil engineering, economics and human resources, e-learning and hospitality management (Note: additional disciplines are continually being added to meet specific local requirements).

 

 

 Volunteer profile: University or Fachhochschule degree with additional training and specialization or vocational training degree with additional degree and specialization. Significant work experience including management and/or training/lecturing experience.

 

Proficient knowledge of English, interested in different countries and cultures, flexible, enjoys improvising and dealing with unexpected situations and challenges, interested in learning from others.

 

  

Accommodation:   In Namibia, the school arranges for self-catering flats on campus and in Zambia the school provides bed and breakfast arrangements near the campus for volunteer experts.

 

Costs: Assignments are done on a volunteer basis, i.e. no salary or consultant fee is paid. Travel arrangements are discussed individually, and health and accident insurance for the assignment country has to be covered by the volunteers.
